Audacity Assignment 6: Name Echo

DEFINITIONS
Mp3: A size compressed audio which is the main format for transmitting audio over the internet.

AAC: Files that most of the time contain MA4.

Ogg Vorbis: An open source size compressed

In this assignment I had to make my name echo. This was a fun assignment because you got to pick where you wanted your name to echo. In this assignment I had to generate silence 3 seconds after my voice. Then I had to make my voice echo.

Audacity Assignment 5: Cutting and Time Shifting

DEFINITIONS-
Audacity Project Format- The format in which Audacity stores its projects. This consists of a reference file with the extension .aup and a large number of small audio files with extension. This structure makes it quicker for Audacity to move audio around ideal for cutting and pasting audio in a project.


Hz- Hertz. Measures a frequency event in number of cycles per second.


kHz- One kilohertz (kHz) is 1000 Hz.

For this assignment we had to shift our voices to another place. I learned how to move a recording around to put it anywhere I want.

Audacity Assignment 4: Add a Beat Under Your Name

DEFINITIONS-
Sample- A discrete value at a point in a waveform representing the audio at that point.
Sample Rate- Measured in Hz like frequency, this represents the number of digital samples captured per second in order to represent the waveform
Sample Format-
Also known as Bit Depth or Word Size. The number of computer bits present in each audio sample.


In this assignment I had to look for a beat. It was fun looking for the beat because it kind of went along with your recording. I learned how to put a beat in your recording all you have to do is drag it to Audacity.

Audacity Assignment 3:Fade your name in and out

DEFINITIONS-
Linear- A simple, directly proportional, one-to-one, straight-line relationship.

Logarithmic- A non- Linear relationship where one item is proportional to the logarithm of the other item. So for a logarithmic fade in, the curve becomes flatter with time; a logarithmic fade-out becomes steeper with time

Gain- A measure of how much a signal is amplified.

In this assignment I had to fade in and out my voice. This was pretty cool because it was low then high then low. I also learned what logarithmic means which I didn't know. 

Audacity Assignment 2: Amplify your name


DEFINITIONS-
Amplitude- The level or magnitude of a signal.

dB- A logarithmic unit describing the ratio of that unit to a reference level.

In this assignment I had to amplify my voice which is just making the recording louder.

Audacity Assignment 1: Record your name


DEFINITIONS-
Audio file format- A file format for strong audio data on a computer system. IT can be a raw 
bit-stream, but it is usually a container format or an audio data format with defined storage layer.

Waveform- A curve showing the shape of a wave at a given time. 

WAV-  An Audio File Format. 

In this assignment I had to record my voice saying my DJ name I learned that a WAV was an audio file format.
